Happy Reading by Vera - Children's Books

Life as a Children’s Book Author

Even before I started Happy Reading by Vera in 2014, I’ve always had an interest in becoming a children’s book author. I love creating fun stories that captivate the hearts of little kids, and so I worked hard to make my dream into a reality.

My first books, A Bee on My Bike (2014) and Zach and His Cat (2015) both appeared in Storymonster.com, a family magazine, and Storytime Pup. They were also featured in Children's Books Read Aloud on YouTube. I was a part of the Dallas Book Festival 2016, I'm Every Woman Community Health Fair, 2016/2017, Various Book Expo/Festivals in Texas, and in Maryland as well. My third book, Where Shall We Go? was released June 13, 2017 and was awarded Author Talk About It 4 Out of 5 Stars Book Award. I am currently working on my fourth book, Monica and Michelle to be released in late 2018.

You can take a look at my books at the Dallas Public Library Dallas, Texas, Ellen Brooks West Memorial Library of Forney, Texas, Some Savanna, Georgia Schools, Various Elementary Schools in East, Texas, Houston, Texas Elementary Schools, and South Carolina School Libraries.

Personal Life

I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my family, most of whom fondly call me “Sister.” Aside from these hobbies, I also love working in my church where I serve as the President of the Women's Ministry, feeding the homeless ministry, and being a volunteer reading partner for Dallas Independent School District.

A retired combat veteran, I served the U.S. Army with honor and distinction. My dedication earned me the Bronze Star Medal.

Writing With Passion

I believe in paying it forward. Through my books, I hope that children can learn important life lessons. Visit my Amazon page to learn more about my works!
